Legacy Air is a hands-on refrigeration and air-conditioning business based in Alberton, Gauteng. The work is split across two systems that fail in very different ways: preservation equipment — cold rooms, freezer rooms, restaurant and butchery refrigeration, fruit and veg displays, Coke fridges, highback chillers, display and bar fridges — and climate control, from a single midwall split in a bedroom to hideaways, ceiling cassettes and packaged units in offices, schools and cinemas.

We are built for the people who cannot afford a day of downtime: the butchery with a freezer room full of stock, the restaurant whose display fridge decides to quit on a Friday, the shop that needs a chiller commissioned before opening, the household that wants a split installed properly the first time. Every job is handled by the people who answer the phone. There is no layer of subcontractors between the quote and the work.

That shapes how we work. We look at the room, the load and what the unit actually has to hold before recommending equipment. On a repair we find the fault and quote it before we start. On servicing we keep condensers clean, gas charges right and drains flowing so rooms keep holding temperature through the hot Gauteng months. Then we come back when it needs attention again.

Refrigeration and air-conditioning work is practical, unglamorous and specific. Cold rooms are only as good as their evaporator, their insulation and their power supply. Air-conditioners are only as good as their sizing and the quality of the install. Get those right and the equipment lasts for years; get them wrong and you pay for it again in twelve months.
